Our Story

Beaux is a handcrafted menswear accessory company based in Toronto, Canada. Each of our bespoke pieces are crafted in-studio on a made-to-order basis by our small but dedicated production team.

Our stock ranges from mainstay favourites to small batch runs, a system which allows us to operate with no outsourcing and considerably less waste. It not only keeps manufacturing solely Canadian, but increases the attention to the many details that go into every single piece.

While we aim to source locally in Toronto as much as possible, we also love travelling internationally and often bring back fabric from afar to create limited edition collections. At the bottom of each listing, you can read where the fabric originates and each new collection we release includes a story of how/ when/where we found it along our travels, our way of bringing you along for the ride.

Right now, our favourite is the Japanese Collection from our Autumn 2019 trip to our favourite archipelago. We bounced around from Tokyo, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Nagano. Did we have to buy another suitcase to lug home the fabric? Yes. Was it worth it? We think so.

In the vein of fabric love, we'd say our specialty lays in collaborating with clients, taking their creative input and making it tangible by creating customized pieces that fit the specs. The journey of a special order from idea to wearable art is unparalleled and it's what keeps us smiling, season after season. During the process, we frequently hand source fabric, chat back and forth with clients, send and receive swatches and adjust to feedback. It's our favourite part of this work we are so fortunate to be able to do every day.

Our backstory is a fun one, but this is just a quick recap. Founded in Vancouver in 2013 by Zöe Tisshaw, then joined by Andrew Rowan and Jesse Robinson, Beaux Ties started by chance and was grown with purpose over the next years. We opened our first studio in Gastown in 2014 and after steering her focus to create Park & Fifth, Zöe passed the Beaux torch to Jesse while Andrew continued on to Puma. We teamed back up in a new shared studio with Zöe and P&F and in 2017, Jesse moved the Beaux studio from Vancouver to Toronto.

Fast forward to today and we have the absolute pleasure of continuing to work with the growing team at P&F, collaborating colour palates to offer pairing shades. Best of all, we worked with the two founding members to create custom pieces for their wedding celebration in the Summer of 2019.

We try to get back to Vancouver as often as possible to breathe in that fresh fresh West Coast air, source new fabric and catch up with old friends. Maybe we'll see you soon.

As always, it takes an army. Beaux wouldn't be what it has evolved to without a slew of clients new and returning, production team members, photographers, models, stylists, web and communication experts. Within our Custom Services page you'll notice a handful of the names of humans who we've had the pleasure of working with in the past, specifically wedding related. Each photographer is owed their due and we've done our best to credit them individually for their work.

The list of everyone we'd like to include in our gratitude is ongoing, so if you've been a part of this journey, thank you.
